Window and Door Styles
They say variety is the spice of life, but when you're building or remodeling the number of options can be bewildering. So we've designed this brief guide to help your planning and decision-making process, by showing you the most common window and door styles that we offer. You can always customize, of course, and we'll be happy to help you with any questions you might have. Just give us a call!
Awning
Our Awning may appear to be as simple as a Casemaster on its side, but in fact it is specifically engineered to circulate fresh air without opening your room to rain. They are available in almost any size and configuration, so you can use them alone, combined vertically or horizontally. Use them with Casemasters, above or below, to drench rooms with light and air.
Bay
Create a mini greenhouse, a window seat, or a small retreat, and above all let in the light! By using our Casemaster or Double Hung windows, your bay can be as cozy or expansive as you wish. Add a transom or awning for height or additional window size.
Bow
If you viewed a Marvin Bow from overhead, you'd immediately notice the smooth arc that gave the window its name. Any number of Awning, Casemaster, or Double Hung windows are mulled together at our factory to ensure a harmonious appearance. Bows are a lovely way to open any room, making a graceful interior an integral element of your view.
Casemaster
Often referred to as "the kind of window that cranks open," our Casemaster window makes run-of-the-mill casement windows seem just that: run-of-the-mill. The Casemaster is a wood or clad wood window that solidly seals out wind, rain and snow. It includes the best-designed hardware available, such as its sequential locking system and sophisticated roto gear mechanism. This ensures an airtight seal and improved security.
Double Hung
There's a reason double hung windows have been around forever: they look good and they work. That doesn't mean they can't be improved on, and that's why our Double Hung is a state-of-the-art window design, with timeless style and beauty. Our spring-balanced hardware allows smooth opening and closing, plus sashes that easily tilt into the room for cleaning. And the millwork features more wood than you've ever seen in a double hung - at least in the last fifty years.
Clad Insert Double Hung
Our Clad Insert Double Hung has all the features of our traditional Double Hung window, and all the convenience of a replacement window. A professional installer simply removes the sash and jamb hardware and installs the new Clad Insert Double Hung without disrupting any existing trim, interior walls or siding. It's a simple but beautiful solution, making the Clad Ultimate Insert Double Hung the perfect choice for remodeling and replacement.
Glider
With one fixed and one sliding sash, the glider is a reliable choice for simple operation and energy efficiency in areas where a swinging sash would be in the way. The sliding sash moves horizontally on a smooth, virtually indestructible track, ensuring minimal maintenance and maximum reliability.
Polygon
A basic rectangular unit is, of course, the building block of all window styles. But start adding dimensions to the rectangle, and things get interesting. Marvin polygons- octagons, trapezoids, triangles, virtually any geometric shape -are striking alone and add drama to any assembly. Both polygon and picture windows are available with a variety of glazing and lite options.
Roundtop
Here's where our capabilities really shine: the Marvin Roundtop window. We've devised curves and circles unimaginable by many window manufacturers, and you can design your own as well. Many of our glazing and clad exterior options are available on round tops as well, aiding in energy efficiency and convenient maintenance.
Tilt Turn
Long a favorite in Europe, the Tilt Turn swings open wide like a door or tilts into the room for overhead ventilation, operating in both directions using one remarkable handle. Heavy-duty hardware guarantees sturdy reliability. Of course, we also offer some interesting variations, such as a simulated double hung and a roundtop version.
Inswing French
Create a grand entrance using our precision-engineered, beautifully finished french doors. These doors open, close, and lock with a comfortably solid feel. Many of the same finishing options used for our windows are available, giving you plenty of flexibility in the impression you can achieve. The Inswing door opens inward.
Outswing French
Basically the same door as our Inswing French, but opens outward to increase usable interior space.
Sliding French
Perfect for anyplace where swinging doors would be impractical, our Sliding French Doors create an authentic look with wide stiles and rails. The door slides on a smooth, virtually indestructible track, ensuring minimal maintenance and maximum reliability. Multi-point locks are available as an added security option, as are extra large panel and/or glass areas.
Trimline Patio
A great replacement option for old or worn out aluminum doors. Our Trimline Patio Door features a simple, elegant design that is both economical and energy efficient. It's normally sized especially for replacement purposes, but full size and custom doors are of course available.
