Marvin is dedicated to producing enduring, energy-efficient products in ways that will ensure a greener future.
From process to product, from design through years in a home, from a single window to an entire industry. Being a leader in an industry that depends on natural resources means that we have extra accountability where the environment is concerned. From internal opportunities to minimize our environmental footprint to long-term solutions for building green and greener, Marvin is moving forward with new initiatives that integrate environmentally sound practices and materials. At the same time, we’re continuing to support and expand green values that we’ve practiced for years, from in-factory recycling to effective waste-reduction efforts. In the end, it pays off—for our customers, for their clients, and the environment.
Ongoing Efforts
Always striving for improvement, Marvin Windows and Doors has introduced initiatives that rethink our value chain, improve resource productivity while lowering environmental costs, and implement green strategies for every Marvin brand.
Current green-smart efforts include:
Sustainable forestry. We purchase pine from suppliers who subscribe to the Sustainable Forest Initiative, promoting good forest stewardship.
Sound manufacturing practices. An estimated 8,500 tons of packaging and logging waste is recycled annually. In addition, an estimated 300 tons of cardboard, 90 tons of paper, and 100 tons of plastic are recycled every year.
Recycled content. Our extruded aluminum components contain up to 40% reclaimed aluminum, while our rolled aluminum is over 98% recycled content, totaling more than 800 tons of re-used aluminum every year. Glass batches typically contain anywhere from 15% to 33% crushed scrap glass.
Recyclable content. When disassembled after years of use, the major components of Marvin windows and doors can be recycled, as can our product packaging.
ENERGY STAR participation. Providing products that reduce energy use in homes and businesses is another way we strive to be part of the solution.
